Old Journal Entry

Wow. The Holy Spirit has used my own words to convict me. God is so awesome and I am thankful for what He has been doing in my life lately. I just thought I would share a old journal entry from almost a year ago. I wrote this on 11-22-04.

2 Thessalonians 3
10 For even when we were with you, we used to give you this order: if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either.
11 For we hear that some among you are leading an undisciplined life, doing no work at all, but acting like busybodies.
12 Now such persons we command and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ to work in quiet fashion and eat their own bread.
13 But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary of doing good.

What are the applications in this text?
1.If anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat. We are to work.
2.Do not grow weary of doing good.

What is it the main point?
If we do not work, we do not eat.

What are its parts?
Paul and the other apostles, the good Thessalonians, the lazy Thessalonians, hypocrites.

What Causes it?
People living a undisciplined life.

What does it cause?
Hunger, Separation.

What is it's place, location, or use?
Self-examination, Devotion, motivation, caution, instruction.

What is contrary, contradictory, or different to it?
We are to help those who cannot work

What compares to it?
Problems with laziness, we are to be disciplined

What are the testimonies or examples of Scripture about it?
Galations 6:9,Ruth 2

This is a very truthful Scripture. When can apply this to Spiritual disciplines also. We are to "eat" God's Word daily. Man shall not live on bread alone. So if we do not work for it, we will not get fed. We have to make the time, sit down, read, and meditate. That is work. If we do not do that we will starve to death spiritually. We have to remember that there are some that look like they are working for it but they really arent. Do not get tired doing God's good work. He gives us strength when we "eat" daily. Food nourishes the body like the Word nourishes the soul. Are you starving Spiritually? Go and get into God's Word.
